Villa Lobos 12 Studies

Heitor Villa Lobos' collection of 12 Etudes for Guitar Solo is an interesting and captivating set of musical pieces. It shows the amazing talent and cultural influences of the well known Brazilian composer. From the complex contrapuntal textures fhat remind us of Bach's compositions to the romantic and lyrical melodies that bring to mind the style of Chopin, Villa Lobos displays his expertise in various musical styles. The etudes also reflect the vibrant and diverse cultural heritage of Brazil by incoporating elements of urban music, African rhythms and the musical traditions of the Amazonian region.

“Many people neither understand nor wish to understand nationalism in art. They think that the arts – and consequently – music should serve a “universal patron”. Everyone who detaches himself from the popular sources becomes, in so doing, one who is routine-minded and retrogressive”. Heitor Villa-Lobos

F. Sor 20 Studies ed Segovia

"The 20 studies in this volume were chosen from the most effective and beautiful ones written by Fernando Sor for the guitar. Not many Masters have succeeded in their studies for the gradual development of the instrument's technique in achieving the right balance between the pedagogical purpose and the natural musical beauty. The studies of Sor can be used not only for the development of the technique of the student, but as well for the preservation of it at its heights for the masters.  They contain the exercises of the arpeggios, chords, repeated notes, legatos, thirds, sixths, melodies in the higher register and in the bass, interwoven polyphonic structures, stretching exercises for the fingers of the left hand, for the prolonged holding of the "cejilla" and many other formulas, which if practised with assidulity and inteligence, will develop vigor and flexibility in both hands and finally lead to the better command of the instrument." - Andre Segovia

M. Carcassi 25 Studies Op60

They are constructed around straightforward harmonic structures and encompass essential elements that form the foundation of guitar technique, including arpeggios, slurs, barres, and more. Each study focuses on addressing a specific technical challenge, enabling students to develop their skills in a targeted manner. Additionally, the etudes familiarize learners with different tempos and various positions on the guitar, providing them with valuable experience and versatility.
